At CartKit, we're on a mission to make marketing easier. However, we also want to make your marketing as effective as possible. Sometimes, it's hard to balance the two, especially with the quick fix services available on sites like Fiverr tempting you.

To make the most out of your business, and give it the best shot at success, we've helped narrow down some of the marketing services you need to be wary of.

SEO Boosting

SEO backlinks, as they are usually called can be fantastic for your visibility. Google is always looking to make sure your content is relevant, and backlinks can help.

There is a right way and a wrong way to get them. Ideally you would have others share your content, or guest blog, or get mentions from other websites.

On Fiverr, you can purchase them, but they are typically created by bots spamming your links across the internet. This can hurt your site when Google realizes you're spamming your content on unrelated websites.

You can pay for good backlinks. There are services which will create relevant, personalized backlinks for you, but they are sparse on Fiverr, if they even exist.

Fake video reviews

I get it. You just launched, and you don't have real video testimonials. You need something for your sales page right?

I mean, yes, but you're so much better off having a friend, family member or coworker review it.

Fake testimonials are considered false or deceptive advertising, which makes them against U.S. law. If you want reviews, try a service like Vouch or offer to interview your customers through your order confirmation emails.

Social Views/likes/ Comments/sharing

Don't pay for views. It's against the terms of service for most platforms, and artificially boosting these numbers does more harm than good.

First of all, it really messes with your engagement numbers, and tracking your true performance. How can you improve your content strategy if your numbers are bogus and you can't identify what is or isn't working?

Secondly, social sharing comes across as spam. Like the SEO backlinks, these are typically un-targeted and spammy, which hurts your brand in the end.

Site Speed Checks

You should be wary of any Fiverr gigs that promise to increase your website speed.

Site speed usually has more to do with your theme than anything. That's why we recommend using themes which have been speed tested by the Shopify team from their theme store if you're using Shopify. It may be cheaper to buy that theme forest theme, but the cost could be coming out of your conversions.

If you're insistent on a custom theme and need someone to do the work for real, head over to Upwork to find a real expert, who will look for links, compress images and test your site speed.  Before you do, you can check your site speed for free on Pindgom.

Long story short, outsourcing is a great way to grow your business. But some services on Fiverr can actually end up hurting your business.  Check (real) reviews, and do your research before making a purchase.

Remember, if the price is too good to be true, or the turnaround time is insanely low, there's likely a reason for that.
